Open Exploration

Open Exploration times are free; with the exception of Tech Makerspace which has a materials fee based on the activity.

  1. Digital Gaming Lab: The Digital Gaming Lab is open during scheduled times throughout the week for grades 3 and up to explore and play games freely. This is an unstaffed activity, so younger students should be supervised by a parent.

  2. Open Build: Open at various times throughout the week, Open Build invites participants of all ages to explore their creativity with materials like Legos, K’Nex, and more. Build a project or simply experiment and play. This is an unstaffed activity, so elementary-age children should be supervised by an adult.

  3. Messy Makerspace: The Messy Makerspace is open for all ages to explore, experiment, and create. With access to a variety of materials and tools, participants can design projects, test ideas, or simply enjoy hands-on making in a creative, open-ended environment. Elementary-aged students must be supervised by an adult.

  4. Open Robotics: Open Robotics Time invites participants of all ages to experiment with robotics and coding. Build and program with LEGO Spike robots, or explore movement and coding using Dash, Sphero, or RVR robots. This open session encourages creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on exploration with technology. Elementary-aged students must be supervised by an adult.

  5. Tech Makerspace: Open to ages 13 and up, this space lets participants explore the makerspace and create their own projects independently. Equipment available includes 3D printers, sublimation printer, heat press, laser cutter, sewing machines, leatherworking tools, and crochet supplies. Participants must have completed a previous course or online tutorial to safely use certain equipment, ensuring a fun and safe hands-on experience while developing creativity and technical skills.
